Free Resource Centers

The Boston Public Library (BPL) and its branches. (we are linked to them- see our links page)

Please also see the section: AF’s Resource Center @ the BPL. The libraries are filled with free resources, including free internet access. One can also get day passes to area education/arts institutions (ie MFA etc..). The BPL also has a free career center located in it that can help folks find college scholarships and jobs!!!!

AGM is a free resource that is located downtown near the red, green and orange lines. It has a great grants library and a great staff. It’s library has info on all types of grant- for art, schools, individuals, institutions etc..

UrbanArts Institute@ Massachusetts College of Art, Boston MA (617)
The Urban Arts Institute is a resource center and slide library for public art. It can help one find out about other public art projects/opportunities occurring not only in Boston, but also about possibilities nationally and internationally.

This organization has the best resources for visual artists and those working in multi-media and performance. Their library has over 100 books and periodicals in the center’s office and in the School’s library. They have great info on jobs and grants on both local, national & international basis. They have on line resources available, as well as a program to help council individuals on their careers (one needs to make an appointment for this service).

This is a great resource center for anyone working in film or video. They have access to equipment as well as other forms of assistance for its members.
