Who we are: AF Board & Staff
The Artists Foundation, although not a large organization, is one of the hardest working arts organizations. Both the AF Board and the AF Staff work together with the AF Advisory Board, volunteers and collaborators to achieve amazing results.

In memory of Donald J. Conder,
Artists Foundation Business Manager and Accountant for over 20 years.
On Saturday August 14th 2004 the Massachusetts art world lost one of its strongest supporters. Donald Conder, who I had the pleasure of working with for over 12 years at the Artists Foundation, died at his home in Quincy. Although he was not usually found at any high profile art events, he was always in the back ground doing the work needed to keep a non profit running smoothly. He was the backbone of the Foundation and helped to keep it alive in its lean times often forgoing a paid salary when the funding was exceptionally lean. He believed in helping the individual artists- the little guys of the art world. He helped to keep the foundation on track during its large budget days and during its smaller budget days. He always said " it doesn't matter how much money you have it is what you do with it that matters" He believed and practiced that artists should never have to wait for their checks- because he knew that many of them couldn't afford to do so. Gail Burton, artist and AF board member dubbed him the Ninja Accountant because one often didn't see him in person when requesting checks, but he always got the checks and paper work out in a expedient fashion. He was the only self proclaimed anarchist account I knew. He hated to see administrative waste and large organizations that seem justified in spending most of their funds on overhead. He hated the government telling people how to run their lives and interfering with it. He hated seeing the hard working "little guys" being taken advantage of. I will truly miss our fun and spirited weekly phone conversations and all of us at the Foundation will miss him.
